Frequently asked questions…

There are loads of things that we are asked on a regular basis, and rightly so too – it’s a complicated digital world out there! Here are some of the things that people ask us about…

I have a different question

We consider ourselves to be at the lower end of the scale when it comes to what design agencies charge for websites. However it is impossible to give an accurate quote without fully understanding your business and its goals or objectives. Having said this, it’s really easy to get a quote from us – just give us a quick call and we’ll be happy to have a friendly and informal chat about your business. You should expect to be asked things like:

  • What does your business do?
  • What are you hoping your website will do for you?
  • Do you already have a website we can look at?
  • Are there any websites out there on the world wide web that you really like?
  • What do you already have in terms of content for your website (photos, videos, written text and stuff)?
  • Are you working to a budget?

It usually takes about 10 minutes to get a good overview of what you need, and we should be able to give you an accurate quote right there and then whilst we’re on the phone together.

We pretty much use WordPress exclusively these days. Long gone are the days of designing websites using static HTML and Dreamweaver! WordPress is great because it’s always developing and evolving inline with current web standards. It’s also super customisable if you know how to use it, and we’re confident that we can create any design that we’re ever asked to attempt using it.

John loves using Flatsome and UX Builder for their simplicity and flexibility, making it easy to design visually stunning and responsive websites. It’s a great option for clients who want a modern, fast-loading site with plenty of customisation options.

Brian prefers Elementor, which is equally excellent for its intuitive drag-and-drop interface and powerful design features. Elementor offers a wide range of design flexibility, making it ideal for more complex or larger projects with advanced functionality.

Both are top-tier tools that deliver fantastic results!

There are lots of other tools that we use too, all stuff that we have come to trust over years and years of designing and supporting websites.

We really do want to work with you for many years if possible, and the only way that’s going to happen is if you’re absolutely in love with your website. There are many things that we do to make sure that you do fall in love, from finding out which websites on the web you like, to working with you during the design process and providing a link your website during development – we can pretty much guarantee that the finished product* will be exactly what you had in mind and then some!

*A website is never finished! Your amazing new website will be the very beginning of your online journey to business growth!

Mega important question! For most businesses the majority of your website visitors will be using smart phones to view your website. With this in mind, everything we do takes into consideration the experience that ALL your viewers will have, regardless of which device they may be using. Yes was the short answer!

Unfortunately not. We only ever use WordPress themes and technology that we know and trust. Some themes (and theme developers) are restrictive, unsupported and out of date.

Not to worry though, we’re sure that the design elements you love from the theme that you have discovered yourself can be replicated using the technology that we generally work with.

We only support and grow websites that we’ve built ourselves. This is because we ensure our websites are built with the correct, scalable technology from the start. When we take over a website built on platforms like GoDaddy, Wix, or poorly executed WordPress builds, we often face limitations that hinder performance, security, and future growth. However, in rare cases where a WordPress site has been built well using trusted technology, we may offer support and development.

Not necessarily! Many of our larger portfolio sites have grown over time, thanks to long-term support and collaboration. Most of our clients start with smaller websites as they typically have limited content. As they work with us, they can add more content, blogs, videos, and try new ideas as their business evolves. If you have lots of content from the start, or we’re rebuilding an existing large site, it might be bigger. Either way, your site will grow as your business does!

There is absolutely no reason why your business website can’t be the number 1 ranking website on Google. But it’s not an overnight affair, and creating a website that is perfectly structured inline with Google’s requirements is only the first step, and it’s what happens next that really counts. We’ll be there every step of the way to help achieve outstanding Google positions. It’s a team effort.

We believe in working closely with our clients throughout the process. While we build your new site on our server, your current site remains live. Once the new homepage is ready, we share a live test link, and that’s where the real collaboration begins. We’ll chat through your feedback and refine the design together. You’re involved at every step. When you’re satisfied, we’ll handle the technical transition, updating DNS settings. Afterward, you’ll only need to manage domain renewals and email hosting with your current provider.

As standard you can expect to receive a fully tailored, responsive WordPress website. Our services include on-page SEO, Google Recaptcha for spam protection, Wordfence security, and submission to Google for indexing. We optimise site performance with Litespeed Cache and configure contact forms for easy customer communication. We also offer image sourcing and video editing if required, and, of course, all of this is hosted on our outstanding, secure hosting platform for reliable speed and uptime.

We encourage clients to provide their own written content and images, as this best reflects your brand and message. However, if needed, we can create some basic content and use stock images to get you started. We find that websites perform best when the content is authentic and specific to your business, so if possible, we recommend providing as much input as you can.

Our standard package includes website design, online shops, on-page SEO, submission to Google, hosting, support, and training. However, services such as professional video production, branding, photography, advanced SEO, Google Ads, and additional content creation are not included in the standard package. These services are available as extras and can be discussed based on your specific needs.

We do have a contract that’ll need to be signed by both parties. It’s nothing mind-blowingly legal or riddled with jargon, but it does outline who’s responsible for what, who owns the website, where websites are hosted and that type of thing. We ask all our clients to work with us on a 12 monthly basis, giving us time to show you what we can do!

Your website is exactly that – yours. It’ll need to be well managed, maintained, updated, monitored, backed up and even repaired from time to time. For most of our clients, all of this is very daunting stuff. That’s why we provide and charge for support. There’re all kinds of things that we do for our clients under a support contract like ours. From making minor amendments upon request to advising on SEO, from resolving an issue with a WordPress plugin to embedding a new video, from changing a home page image to editing a contact form, or from running a security update to organising a back up – there really is a heck of a lot we’re prepared to do to help. In fact it’s SO important to have someone onboard that knows how to maintain a website, that we even have people come to us just for support.

Typically, your new website will be ready within 2 to 4 weeks. This timeline starts once you’ve completed the brief form we send, signed the agreement, and paid the invoice for the setup. The timeframe may vary slightly depending on the complexity of the project and how quickly we receive the necessary information from you.

Definitely not. We only like to work with selected small and medium sized businesses. We’re a small business too and love to provide our services for others like us. In fact, we often turn away large projects so that we can focus on our small business clients.

Great! We’ll send you four emails: a simple agreement, a GoCardless link for payments, an online form for your preferences, and the setup invoice. Once that’s sorted, we’ll start building, and you’ll receive a test link to the homepage pretty quickly—long before the final site is ready in 2-4 weeks. After launch, that’s just the beginning! We’ll continue supporting you, keeping your website updated, optimised, and growing with your business.
