What are the predicted web design trends of 2022?

So what kind of web design trends are we likely to see in 2022? Well, here are our top predictions:

  • More video content
  • Black and white colour schemes
  • Minimalism

More video content

In 2022 it is likely that we will start to see an increase in the amount of videos used on websites. Especially on landing pages. Online video has been around for eons though, so why is now so special? Well, simply put, peoples shopping habits, educational habits, and researching habits are drastically changing online. Instead of reading all the necessary information, you can just watch a TED talk, or a 10 second video clip on social media, depending on the topic of course. And that’s what users have come to expect. Video consumption is growing exponentially, and companies and businesses need to tap into this as a big part of their online presence. So we predict that video will be a big part of web design throughout 2022.

Black and white colour schemes

Towards the end of 2021 we have seen a lot more dark colour schemes emerging with deep, bold backgrounds. It seems that this will continue into the new year, but the colours might become a lot more monochrome than those we are currently seeing. Instead of black and gold, or deep purple and yellow, it is likely that web designers will instead be looking at monochrome colours. But why?

Well, black and white design is striking with the two contrasting colours creating intense visual interest and drawing the viewer in. Your website visitors are used to colours everywhere, so a black and white screen can be soothing, welcoming, and intriguing all at the same tome.

In addition, a tertiary accent colour can be used for call to action buttons and key features. And this means that these elements will stand out drastically, grabbing attention and increasing conversions.

Minimalism

Minimalism isn’t really a new trend. It’s been popular for some time now. But we think that throughout 2022, this trend is going to really dominate websites and web design. It’s a classic and timeless trend that won’t “date” your website. But its also excellent for providing a positive user experience, as your website users can find what they need quickly and easily on a webpage that is not cluttered or overwhelming.
